1. Objectifs du cours
The purpose of this course is to introduce the main steps of the European integration by means of economic tools. At the end, students should have a good comprehension of the current and future issues of the European integration from an economic perspective and should understand the role of Europe in the world and the future of the European project.
2. Description du cours
The course adopts micro-and macro-economic approaches to explain the EU economic integration, EU common policies (trade policy, agriculture policy, competition policy), and the final stage of integration (the economic and monetary union). Tools used: national accounts (for GDP / macro analysis), trade tariffs (consumer and producers surpluses, State incomes, social welfare), game theory (for the competition policy assessment), HHI index (for mergers and acquisitions study).

4. Compétences visées
- Competencies : Awareness of European Economic Challenges, Communication and Synthesis Skills, Comprehension of Economic Integration Processes, Critical Thinking, Policy Understanding Competency, Economic Analysis. Students develop the ability to analyze European integration using both microeconomic and macroeconomic tools. They learn to explain economic integration processes, common EU policies (trade, agriculture, competition), and the economic and monetary union stages. Students will become familiar with major economic challenges facing the EU, including monetary integration difficulties and the future prospects of the European project.
