Année universitaire 2026-2027 - Semestre 1
This course aims to provide students with the fundamentals of macroeconomic analysis in a closed economy and to enable them to understand the key mechanisms determining economic activity, prices, and employment. It also seeks to introduce them to macroeconomic reasoning through simple models that formalize the interactions between various economic variables.

How can we explain the way output, employment, and prices evolve together in an economy, and why do these patterns differ depending on the time horizon? This course addresses this question by progressively building the tools of modern macroeconomic analysis, ranging from the measurement of aggregate phenomena to their modeling. It is based on a key methodological distinction between the short run-characterized by price rigidity and demand-driven outcomes-and the medium run, where labor market adjustments restore a driving role to prices and wages. This approach enables students to understand why economic policies may have different effects depending on the time horizon, thereby allowing them to rigorously examine contemporary economic and policy debates (such as fiscal stimulus, inflation, and structural unemployment).
